When your computer crashes

A friend has been having a lot of problems with his computer. I happened to come across this today and thought it would be worth sharing. It's an ad touting the Lenovo one button data restore feature. I'm not a Lenovo fan, but this looks cool. Creepy? Yes. Funny? I think so....

VMWare’s sucky patch

VMWare just pwned themselves by releasing an update that is disallowing any process with a start date of 08-12-08 to launch. More info here. I am an unapologetic VMWare fan, but this is a huge screwup. Tomorrow will be interesting. This occurs within 24 hours of Gmail going down for an hour. Anyone think too much success is leading to sloppiness at these companies?

Olympic Swimming

Is there anything more boring than watching Olympic Swimming? I'm not questioning the athletes. They are in great shape and put forth every effort. However, I find swimming to be the lamest spectator sport I've ever watched. NBC is doing their best to build drama around Michael Phelps' quest for medals. I watched the relay. I hate to use this word again, but it was boring. I can't help but think the announcers are faking it. Swimming as a spectator sport. I don't get it.

Gmail, or how the cloud stopped my email

Gmail was down today for about an hour. While this may not seem like a big deal for some, according to this link on CNET the outage also affected business customers who use Gmail. Other web based services have gone up and down (ahem, Twitter), but the fallout from Gmail being offline, especially since it affected business clients, will be interesting. Cloud Computing just took it's first black eye. Welcome to the fight.

The Cherrypal

I read an interesting article about the Cherrypal, a 2 watt green "Cloud Computer". I wrote about my opinion of Cloud Computing in a previous post. Personally, I think the Cherrypal is overpriced. The limitations of this device don't justify $250. Once these devices are under $100 and the applications available in the cloud mature I think the Cherrypal will have a market. Until then, I'm intrigued but not impressed.

WordPress for iPhone

Wordpress now has a free iPhone application that allows blog updates from the iPhone. This post was created on my iPhone. Very cool!

Wordpress is the software behind Brainmower.  I am a tough customer to please, but I have been very impressed with Wordpress from day one. Kudos to the Wordpress team. Keep up the good work!
